British actress/singer Jean Simmons dies at 80 years old.

My best memory of her was Spartacus.

2011

American actor Peter Falk dies at 83 years old.

Always loved watching Columbo especially when on one episode when he was in a homeless shelter and he was being mistaken for a homeless person - that was funny.

2012

American singer Whitney Houston dies at 48 years old.

Well done to British actress Naomi Ackie in ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’.

American actor Larry Hagman dies at 81 years old.

I shall never forget back in 1980 when the ‘Who Done It’ Dallas episode was aired to the nation, gripping stuff.

American competitive swimmer/actress Esther Willams dies at 91 years old.

When she was in a 1952 film called ‘A Millon Dollar Mermaid’ she nearly died whilst participating in a high dive.

First President of South Africa Nelson Mandela dies at 95 years old.

He had spent 27 years in jail for conspiring to overflow the apartheid state and I can remember watching him coming out in 1990.

2014

American actress Shirley Temple dies at 85 years old.

Best film was Heidi which was in 1937.

2015

First British astronaut, Major Tim Peake, leaves Earth to live and work on the International Space Station for the next six months.

And not forgetting all those great science experiments too!

2016

British singer - songwriter and actor David Bowie dies at 69 years old.

I’ve got his date of birth mentioned too in Chapter 1 – it’s the 7th January 1947.

English singer - songwriter George Michael dies at 53 years old.

Such a young age. ‘Last Christmas’ and ‘Tropicana’ are my best songs.

Irish broadcaster Sir Terry Wogan dies at 77 years old.

I grew up listening to him on the radio/ watching ‘Wogan’ and here’s to all the work that he did with ‘Children In Need’.

2017

English actor Roger Moore KBE dies at 89 years old.

In 1950 he had starred in a one-off program called ‘The Drawing Room Detective’.

British entertainer Sir Bruce Forsyth CBE dies at 89 years old.

‘Nice to see you, to see you … nice’ and ‘Didn’t he do well?’

2018

Professor Stephen Hawking dies at 76 years old.
